Steals and hustle turned a double-digit deficit into a double-digit win for the Eastern Wyoming College women's basketball team Wednesday night.
The Lancers (13-10 overall, 6-3 in Region IX-North) beat Laramie County 87-56 for their fourth win in a row.
EWC started slow and trailed 19-8 late in the first quarter before rallying to a 21-7 second quarter that put the Lancers up 10, 37-27, at the half.
Eastern tallied 10 steals to the Eagles' two, and turned the ball over just nine times compared to 21 from LCCC.
Sophomore Paula Martinez Sanz scored a team-high 19 points and tied for the most rebounds with five.
Freshman Emma Strom had five points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals. She was also the first to dive on any loose ball, earning the Lancers extra possessions.
Freshman guard Ane Esnal Aguirre had a double-double with 13 points and 10 assists, plus four rebounds and three steals.
Freshman Emilia Axelsson had 11 points, five rebounds and two assists.
The Lancers travel to Riverton for a 2 p.m. at Central Wyoming on Saturday.
