TORRINGTON, Wyo. — Eastern Wyoming College Men’s Basketball has announced the signing of Luka Protic for the upcoming season.
Protic, a 6’7”, wing from Bosnia and Herzegovina, transfers to Eastern Wyoming College from Trinity Valley Community College in Texas, where he sat out the previous season due to a wrist injury.
Protic brings valuable international experience, having competed in both the first and second leagues in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He also made his debut in the Regional Balkan League (AB2) and played a key role for Team Borac, helping the program achieve third- and second-place finishes in consecutive seasons. During his high school career, he was named conference tournament MVP.
Head Coach Bill Engel said Protic’s versatility will make an immediate impact.
“We are ecstatic to have Luka join the Lancers,” Engel said. “He is a versatile player who can impact the game at multiple positions. Luka is strong enough to score and defend in the paint, skilled enough to operate on the perimeter, and smart enough to handle the ball and create for others. His skill set, strength and leadership will be invaluable to our team.”
Protic joins a strong sophomore class that includes Adam Coxon, Isiah Ayala, Finn Rolseth and Nate Hinkle. The group is expected to provide leadership as the Lancers prepare to compete in Region IX.
